Amstel Light, The Official Beer of the Burger™

Did you know that AMSTEL® Light is The Official Beer of the Burger™? Yep, just one sip and you will know why. This month, the South Beach Wine and Food Festival is turning 10 and the festival’s iconic Amstel Light Burger Bash presented, by Schweid & Sons, is once again being hosted by Rachael Ray! We would give anything to be there but since we can’t, we will just keep on dreaming. In the meantime, we will take the next best thing…….a burger from EATS! Our burgers are some of the best in town and we have the awards to prove it. With everything from our Classic to our Texas Sunrise and San Francisco Burger, EATS! has a burger for everyone.

Much like the hanburger itself, Amstel Light is a well known classic and led the American light beer revolution when Amstel Light was first imported in 1980. With only 95 calories per bottle, its unique mixture of barley and hops delivers a rich, full beer taste that pairs beautifully with a nice juicy burger.

In honor of The Official Beer of the Burger™, we are offering a bottle of Amstel Light for just $3 with any burger purchase any day of the week. Both locations have Amstel Light by the bottle and our Riverview location will soon have it on draft. We are also giving away burgers and beers for four at both of our locations. To enter, simply see the entry form below. Winner will be announced on March 1st.

Be sure to stop in and enjoy The Official Beer of the Burger™ with one of our award winning selections. We hope to see you soon!

Mr. Potato Head, An Iconic American Toy

There is something about nostalgic toys that will put a smile on anyone’s face and one of our favorites is the one and only, Mr. Potato Head. Conceived by George Lerner in 1949, the original was produced and manufactured by Hasbro in 1952 as separate plastic parts with pushpins that could be stuck into a real potato or other vegetable. Due to complaints of rotting vegetables, Hasbro began producing a plastic potato body that was included in the initial “funny face” toy set in 1964.

Mr. Potato Head was the first toy to be advertised on television in April of 1952 and was the first commercial targeted towards children. The official birth date of Mr. Potato Head was May 1, 1952 and the original version cost $0.98. Included with the Mr. Potato Head kit were hands, feet, ears, two mouths, two pairs of eyes, four noses, three hats, eyeglasses, a pipe, and eight felt pieces resembling facial hair. The original kit did not come with a plastic potato “body”, so parents had to provide their children with an actual potato into which children could stick the various facial parts. Soon after a plastic potato with inserts for the parts was included in the package and to this day remains in production. While he has gone through a few changes over the years, he still maintains much of his original appearance.

Mr. Potato Head has enjoyed his share of fame as he has appeared on television and in films such as Toy Story series. He has also been released in various themes like the Star Wars inspired “Darth Tater” and Indiana Jones inspired “Taters of the Lost Ark.” Oh, and not to be forgotten is his companion, Mrs. Potato Head.

We love this little guy so much that we want to give one away to a lucky reader. To enter, simply follow the instructions below and a winner will be selected at noon on February 14th. Who says you can’t play with food? 😉

Football is back and we are honored to introduce The V-Jack Burger which we created in honor of Tampa Bay Buccaneer, Vincent Jackson. Much like VJ himself, this burger is a beast!

Consisting of pulled pork sandwiched between two 4 oz Angus patties and then topped with Pepper Jack cheese, peppered bacon and BBQ sauce and placed on a grilled bun, the V-Jack is a masterpiece. Created by our very own David Carey, this burger made its debut last week and has been winning over our guests much like VJ has won the hearts of Bucs fans. What is even better about this burger is that you can get your EATS! on for a good cause. $1 from every burger goes to The Jackson in Action 83 Foundation which aims to provide support to military families, focusing on the educational, emotional, and physical health of the children.

If you are looking for a great place to catch all NFL games, look no further than EATS! American Grill. With HD TV’s and your own private sound box, you can watch your team as we are proud to have the NFL ticket. Every game deserves a great meal, so stop in today and try The V Jack!

Pretzel Crisps are the ideal snack for games and we have a fun dish that will have you getting your EATS! on like an all-star. With our new Pigskin Menu that is available during football games, we are excited to introduce two new dishes that are so good you won’t even notice if your team is losing.

EATS! Philly Cheesesteak Pretzel Crisp Nachos (above):

Our mouthwatering Philly was the inspiration behind this dish. With your choice of either Original or Garlic Parmesan Pretzel Crisps topped with shaved rib eye that is seasoned with US Soil, Cheez Whiz®, sauteed onions and diced jalapeños, you will get an authentic taste of Philly that is the ultimate crowd pleaser. Much like those famous potato chips, nobody can eat just one and these will disappear quickly. Available during all football games, be sure and pair this with an ice cold beer.

EATS! Red, White and Blue Pretzel Crisp Nachos:

Known for having the best Blue Cheese dressing in town, we created the ultimate dish for those that like to spice it up. Buffalo Wing Pretzel Crisps® topped with Frank’s RedHot Chicken, Blue Cheese Dressing and melted Blue Cheese Crumbles, our Red, White and Blue Pretzel Crisp Nachos will score a touch down with your taste buds. Fantastic with a beer, these also go great with a glass of Chardonnay or a glass of bubbles.

Ignite the Night with Fireball Whisky

Source: Fireball Whisky

Sweet heat that tastes like the famous cinnamon candies, Red Hots, is the best way to describe Fireball Whiskey. It goes down nice and sweet and leaves your palate with a spicy cinnamon finish. Like liquid candy for adults, Fireball is one of our most popular shots and the best way to toast with friends. Every week we feature Fireball Fridays and Fireball is $4 a shot.

Fireball shines on its own as well as in cocktails. We recently introduced our EATS! Spiced Honey Tea which is a blend of Jack Daniels Honey, Fireball, Triple Sec and Unsweet Tea served over ice in a mason jar and garnished with a fresh Florida orange wedge. Perfect for a warm day, this refreshing cocktail with a Southern twist has a hint of spice and goes down nice and easy. Be sure to talk to our talented bartenders who can suggest a Fireball shot that is perfect for you.

So, where did Fireball come from? Legend  has it that it was created sometime in the mid 1980’s during the coldest winter Canada had ever seen when a mixologist “accidentally” created a permanent solution to frostbite. His solution was a cinnamon whisky which began to make its way around North America for a few years as a secret handshake between veteran bartenders. Known as Fireball, it began to surge in popularity when several bottles were smuggled to the United States from Canada. Fast forward to 2013 and you will find Fireball at fine establishments across the globe. EATS! is proud to showcase Fireball and Fireball enhanced cocktails.

What are you waiting for? Come get your FIREBALL on!
